Edelweiss flower is found at high altitudes from 1700 to 2700 meters, on cliff sides and other dangerous areas where the weather, altitude, occasional drought, and intense UV rays have earned it Latin name “Leontopodium Alpinum”, translated as “Lion foot of the Alps”. A major component of Edelweiss flower, Leotopodic acid, is a highly potent antioxidant that is not found anywhere else in nature.
As Edelweiss blooms evolved to survive the harsh climate where they grows, it developed compounds to protect itself—these same compounds help protect our skin too.

PROTECTS AGAINST SUN DAMAGE
Chlorogenic acid, which is also present in coffee, is a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from changes that can lead to tumors. A 2013 study, for example, found that it helped activate immune cells that kill cancer cells and suppress the growth of tumors. A 2011 study also found that chlorogenic acid protected skin against UV¬ induced damage, which leads to fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.
Luteoli, a second powerful compound in edelweiss, is a flavonoid that delays the development of cancer cells and inhibits tumor growth. When compared to other flavonoids in studies, it rises to the top as one of the most effective ones.
